What Changed?
During the 1950's the number of fast food chains in the country started to grow. One of the
most famous restaurant chains was McDonalds. Every time you were to get off the interstate there was a McDonalds! KFC opened in 1952. In 1954 the first Burger King. McDonalds started to spread at this time too. In 1956, the Interstate Highway System opened up more to the places that changed America. Shopping malls, fast food, and drive-in everything the Interstate Highway System shaped much of American life as we know it. People opted to buy fast food on the road as it was a quick stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Now, in America every where you go you are most likely to see a fast food restaurant on the side of the road.
